JEM - Truly Outrageous Fashion for a Truly Outrageous Doll
"THERE AIN'T NOBODY BETTER"
Basics about this outfit:
+ a RARE one (can go for over $300 still in the package!)
+ a second year only model from 1987
+ part of the "SMASHIN' FASHION" line for the Misfits
+ outfit is featured in the cartoon
+ there is a Misfits' song by the same name
OUTFIT IS COMPLETE and includes the following:
+ a hot pink dress with black fringe along bottom hem and sleeve edges,sleeves are black with multicolor metallic dots (fabric paint), neckline matches sleeves but is disconnected from main part of dress and closes with velcro at the back, main part of dress also closes with velcro in the back and is made of spandex or spandex-like material
+ a turquoise blue lame belt with black buckle that closes with velcro
+ one hot pink knee sock with black polka dots and a metallic turquoise blue lame bow decoration and a zig-zag hem at the top (ONE SOCK is a common Jem-World fashion choice)
+ a pair of dark turquois blue straight-edged pumps
OVERALL CONDITION IS NEAR EXCELLENT. There is no fading and it will look wonderful displayed. Noted minor defects:
+ there are a few minor picks alongside the velcro at the back of the dress (caused by the velcro I might add); also, the top of the bottom piece of velcro is fraying slightly (because the velcro is quite strong!)
+ the inner lining of the belt is only sewn to the display side at the ends...I am pretty certain this is how it was when I got it, and it is only noticeable if the belt is not being worn. If it is an issue, a small dab of craft glue should solve the problem.
This outfit is designed to fit JEM fashion dolls which are 12 1/2 inches tall. It is just over 20 years old and comes from my personal JEM collection. It was removed from its packaging (which I no longer have) and gently played with for a short period before being put into storage, where it has been for near to 20 years. To be honest, I did not often change the outfits of my JEM dolls from their originals even though I had these extra clothes. It comes from and has been stored in a smoke-free environment.
